Custom Food Labels

Attract and Inform Customers with High-Quality Custom Printed Food Labels

Food labels from Label Tech will make your product stand out and meet FDA information requirements. Food labels must convey your branding and attract the buyer and they must also provide information about the package contents. Nutritional facts, ingredients, kosher symbols, recipes, cooking instructions, storage requirements and product warnings are all part of food labels. Food labels have to withstand environmental conditions such as moisture, sunlight and chemicals. Food labels must also meet FDA requirements for incidental, non-direct contact with food.

Finishes, Coatings & Considerations for Your Custom Food Labels

We recommend laminating or varnishing to protect against moisture and fading and keep your food labels looking great. Matte lamination and matte varnish provide a softer tone for your label while also providing a softer feel and texture. Gloss lamination and gloss varnish make your labels pop and really accentuate the artwork.

Printing on plastic substrates such as Silver Polypropylene or Clear Polypropylene is very trendy in the food industry. Silver poly can add a pop of metallic to your label to really make it stand out. Clear poly can be applied to a clear container, bag, or jar so you can see through the label to the product inside, and artwork can be backed with white ink for opacity.

Let us know what type of packaging your food labels will be applied to and the environment they will be applied in. You shouldn’t have to worry about whether your labels will hold up on your product. We’ve been helping clients like you for over 35 years, let us guide you to the right adhesive and finish for your food labels!

Frequently Asked Questions about Custom Food Labels

What’s the difference between matte and gloss lamination?

Gloss lamination is good for a high sheen, and matte lamination is good if the matte appearance is your goal (matte lamination is also very trendy). Matte lamination is also good if you want to mark on the label with a sharpie or pen.

How do I choose an adhesive?

Selecting the right adhesive is critical to ensuring your product label remains intact. Questions we may ask to determine which adhesive is best include: Is it going in a refrigerator or freezer? There are adhesives specially designed for freezer applications. Is the product hot filled or cold filled? Is it applied to a wet surface?

What is the average turnaround time for my labels?

Once your artwork is received and we have a P.O. with your requirements, the typical turnaround time is 10 business days. There are exceptions to this so please ask us during the quoting process if you require a better lead time.

Where do I send my label art files?

Your files can be sent via email to or you can upload directly through our ftp site.

What are the file requirements for labels?

Please look at our File Requirements sheet for more information.

Are you ISO certified or is there a quality management system in place?
